Emotion regulation is not about not feeling. Neither is it exerting tight control over what we feel. And it’s not about banishing negative emotions and feeling only positive ones. Rather, emotion regulation starts with giving ourselves and others the permission to own our feelings—all of them.

Safe Connections offers a 24/7 Crisis Helpline. They provide highly-trained advocates who assess safety needs, assist with safety planning, provide emergency transportation, and give referrals for medical care, shelter, legal aid, counseling, and other area resources. This helpline is available for adults and youth of all genders who have experienced rape, domestic or dating abuse (physical, sexual or emotional), sex trafficking, and/or childhood sexual abuse. The Crisis Helpline is also an excellent resource for friends and family members who are concerned for a loved one. Safe Connections also offers free individual counseling for those impacted by rape, domestic or dating abuse (physical, sexual or emotional), sex trafficking, and/or childhood sexual abuse.
